It used to be a web comic. Then it was a redirect to a YouTube channel.

Tomb's Mouth is a setting for the game Stargrave that I am basing all of my terrain projects around. This page will grow as I complete these projects.
Tomb's Mouth is a mining colony founded on a desert-like planet with a designation number but no name. The planet was noticed for being incredibly rich in metals detected by long-distance scans. Once a scouting ship arrived to verify the claims, it was discovered that these deposits were actually a subterranian superstructure spanning the entire planet. Irregularly spaced across the planet's surface are small buildings that seem to function as entry points to the abandoned superstructure. The first of these discovered eventually became the scrap mining colony of Tomb's Mouth.
Over the years, many of the surface buildings have been reinforced and retrofitted as points of commerce. As the miners explored the facility it was discovered that the access points to it lead to two (seemingly) different and disconnected layers of the superstructure. The buildings on the surface are marked with either red or blue paint to indicate which of these two layers the buildings' access points lead to. The majority of the colony's population has moved underground as work takes them deeper into the superstructure. The scrap miners here salvage raw materials and any functioning technology they discover as they explore the area. The hauls are then shipped off-world for the megacorps that rule the galaxy.
Tomb's Mouth is the most profitable of the scrap mining colonies on this planet and as such attracts a variety of criminals and pirates looking to infiltrate the superstructure or steal the valuable materials and tech being harvested from it. This has created a perpetual need for security which is usually filled by mercenaries hired by megacorps to escort shipments or by the colony itself to act as guards. These mercenaries are rarely granted access to the superstructure and tend to camp on the surface of the planet instead.
Guns-N-Such and the Chow stall are two businesses open to the outside world in Tomb's Mouth that supply firearms and food to the mercenary forces stationed there (for a price). Both businesses function as stalls with a service counter for customers to order from. When the alarms are sounded or gunshots start going off, these businesses are able to shutter their main points of purchase almost instantly to protect their staff, inventory, and more importantly the entrances to the superstructure. Guns-N-Such uses a magnetic hover cart to move bulk inventory and pick up supplies from other points in the colony. The Chow stall keeps a store of a cheap alcoholic beverage known as "swish" in it's roof tank. Both of these storage "solutions" occassionally involve staff needing to run off petty theives from among the mercenary crews stationed here but that doesn't happen very often as stealing from Tomb's Mouth is a good way to get your contract terminated.
Droidsmith & Son and Top Side are two businesses open to the outside world in Tomb's Mouth that serve as an all-purpose mechanic and red light district to the mercenary forces stationed there, respectively. Droidsmith & Son specializes in droids but can work on basic starcraft, overland vehicles, and most recently cybernetic implants and prosthetics. "Most recently" doesn't mean "recently," though. It has been several years since the Son in Droidsmith & Son returned from trade school with the certification to work on cyberware. Unfortunately, if you're in the market for new implants, you'll have to go elsewhere. Droidsmith & Son can upgrade, maintain, and even replace existing cyberware but they are not equipped or capable of working on meat. Top Side was once called "Rink's Drinks" after Rink, the owner. Over time, the locals of Tomb's Mouth just started referring to the building as "going top-side" as it's the only bar that services the surface. Rink eventually leaned into it and rebranded to Top Side. The bar now primarily serves a harsh but strong alcohol called "swish" as well as a local drug called "haze." There was a time when this was the place to go for prostitution if you were a mercenary but as more (and classier) establishments opened beneath the surface fewer prostitutes wanted to work for Top Side. There's just the one prostitute left (as the sign was angrily edited to reflect by an impatient customer). The money is great, but she is very tired.
The outsides of these longer perimeter buildings have been retrofitted with turrets and armor plating to help act as defense platforms. Internally, these buildings are used as armories and guard stations for the small force of locals managing the defense of Tomb's Mouth. These locals are typically never seen on the surface during combat but are often the ones managing the squads of mercenaries from these defense stations.
You may have noticed the doors are inconsistent in these builds. Both the original purpose and inhabitants of the buildings on the surface of Tomb's Mouth are unknown but it is safe to say that humans were not a consideration when these structures were erected. As the locals have begun settling the area, many custom doors and additions have been retrofitted onto the existing structures. Beneath the surface, work crews clear rooms and corridors of any valuable tech or scrap, leaving behind empty spaces. These areas are then converted into living quarters, businesses, public works, and community spaces as the inhabitants of Tomb's Mouth spread to fill the empty space left behind by work crews.
Dotting the area that makes up the surface side of Tomb's Mouth are several small structures that are believed to have been constructed with the original intent of circulating air into the underground superstructure. The mining colony has retrofitted a number of other functions into this network include weather monitoring and a plumbing system designed to import water and export waste. These stations are weak points in the security of Tomb's Mouth and are usually why mercenaries are kept on staff outside of cargo processing.
The surface of the planet is barren at worst and toxic at best with only a handful of creatures and plants that have adapted to this harsh environment. None of the water on the planet is drinkable because of a hallucinogenic compound in it that can be absorbed through skin contact. This makes the rain something that should be avoided by the humans living on this planet. The utility stations have a variety of weather monitoring equipment in order to give an early warning to the people of Tomb's Mouth (and their mercenaries) about impending rain. It is uncertain if this toxic rain is a result of the superstructure being built inside the planet or if the planet was chosen for the superstructure because there was no other value to it. Some people theorize that the superstructure was never built inside of a planet but was instead so massive that it gradually gathered an outer crust as it drifted abandoned through asteroid belts over the centuries (although that doesn't entirely explain the limited plant and animal life found here). The local wildlife that can survive here have developed ways to process out the toxins in the water. The higher concentrations of the hallucinogen inside them makes most of them inedible but still sought after by poachers working for drug cartels.
(These two structures are pretty similar so I didn't take many pictures of the red one.)
