It used to be a web comic. Then it was a redirect to a YouTube channel.

Famine Engines

The Martian Invasion of 1999 was executed by four war machines that are collectively known as "The Apocalypse Engines." The Famine Engines are large automatons designed to prioritize stripping Earth of valuable resources and destroying supply chains. Their primary means of doing this were high-intensity heat beams mounted in their chests. Hundreds of Famine Engines were deployed to wander the land, incinerating crops and evaporating bodies of water along the way. The heat beams were also pretty good at burning down cities and melting machinery as well. The Famine Engines' primary target was water which after being evaporated was then skimmed from the clouds in the atmosphere by Martian ships. It is estimated that Mars stole roughly half of Earth's water in this way, leaving much of the surface dry wasteland.

Unlike other Engines which became dormant or removed from Earth after the Invasion, the Famine Engines were left to continue harvesting water unchecked. Many were destroyed by wastelanders, scavengers, or even the Earth military before it was dissolved, but many more still wander the Earth. Fortunately for the survivors of Earth, the surviving machines have become severely impaired since their deployment. Their power sources are finite and they are all but exhausted today. The once intense heat beams are no more powerful than a standard flamethrower and the aging and beaten electronics governing behavior have powered down to emergency levels. Many Famine Engines mindlessly wander the former ocean beds of Earth in large circles, effectively stranding themselves on a perpetual search for water that they've already evaporated, hundreds of miles from any form of civilization.

On rare occasions, a small group of Famine Engines may actually chance upon a designated Safe Zone, attacking everything in sight while attempting to burn down the Safe Zone's outer walls. Rather than expend additional resources to deal with these threats, Martian Authority notifies the Showrunners when Famine Engines are spotted close to any Safe Zones. The Showrunners will then scramble a Big Game Hunter episode of Gaslands, dispatching Earth's own downtrodden and desperate Gaslands competitors to clean up Mars's mess in the name of fun and spectacle.
